Orange said it has become the first Spanish operator to launch a dedicated store in the metaverse as well as a VR platform dubbed “Immersive Now”. The Orange store in the metaverse allows customers to enter a commercial area with products from brands such as Oppo, Honor, Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, Google and Meta, a leisure area with competitions, games and audiovisual content from Orange TV, as well as an amphitheatre where customers can virtually attend all kinds of events.
Orange said the space was created after it reached an agreement with Meta to include the latter’s Meta Quest 2 headset in its portfolio of virtual reality devices. As a result, customers entering the VR store will be able to access demos, promotions and the Orange online store, in addition to manipulating 3D versions of the devices on offer and receiving guidance from a salesperson in the form of an avatar. Access is free via VR headsets in the customer’s home or at a physical Orange store, and after registering with their email, users who make a purchase in the virtual store will receive a redeemable code for the corresponding product.
The operator also unveiled “Immersive Now”, an entertainment-focused platform with access to exclusive virtual reality content. Users can enter the space via VR glasses or their smartphone’s gyroscope capability to view more than a hundred 360-degree immersive experiences, including Cirque du Soleil shows, live and on demand events, plus content from studios such as Warner, Digital Domain or Red Bull.
