Fiction and reality - the boundaries are blurring Sci-Fi literature in many cases seems to have been driving future innovation for several decades. There is ample evidence to support this claim. For example, video watches in Star Trek or Dick Tracy series are remarkably similar to today's smartphones and smartwatches. In his books, Stanisław Lem talked about ideas and projects that resemble today's Google, the Internet or 3D printing. Just three months ago, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced his vision of creating a metaverse on his own platform. He assured that joining the metaverse (buying a special headset) would be as affordable as possible, and that the profits for the platform would come from advertising and trading.
We will have to wait a few more years for the effects of his vision, but the statement coming directly from the president of one of the largest companies in the world definitely shows us the direction in which the digital world is headed. Metaverse and its value Existing metavers, such as GTA or Fortnite, are very popular among players. Modern society no longer perceives spending time in computer games as a less valuable experience. It is comparable to, for example, going out and playing sports. If the hopes of creating future metavers come true, we will witness a huge shift in the way we understand value in the digital world. This shift is already taking place thanks to blockchain and NFT technologies. Many Polish projects use the aforementioned chain, preparing global products, looking for alternative metavers' space. The world, which for many is still unimaginable and incomprehensible, becomes everyday life for others. The possibilities offered by blockchain and metaverse have enormous potential, and tools for its use are being developed simultaneously all over the world. This is no longer an evolution, but a revolution, and there is no one who knows where it will lead us in 10 or 20 years.
